Somerset - Self-Build Dwellings
The Project
Tadman Planning Consultants have been instructed by two different clients to develop and submit planning applications for self-build dwellings in former Mendip District area. Both applications have required careful justification against Policy DP24 of the Mendip Local Plan Part II which allows the erection of a single self-build dwelling outside of the housing development boundary of villages such as Doulting, Oakhill, Stratton on the Fosse and Norton St Philip etc.
One of the dwellings is within the water catchment area of the Somerset Levels and Moors Ramsar site meaning the development has to demonstrate that it is phosphate neutral. Tadman Planning Consultants have worked closely with Hill Reading Architects and Enviren Ltd to demonstrate that the dwelling meets the strict policy criteria and is nutrient neutral though the use of a Package Treatment Plant (PTP) sewage solution.
Both applications are now under consideration by Somerset Council.
