The Project

The site had been in use as a Children’s Day Nursery for many years in conjunction with the adjacent residential dwelling. On retirement the owners leased the building to another nursery however, because of its location, it became increasingly difficult to find staff and remain viable. The site became vacant and an application for planning permission was submitted for the change of use of the Children’s Day Nursery to a residential dwelling to include a single storey extension at the rear to provide additional accommodation.

The proposal was in the Green Belt and potentially contrary to policy due to the loss of a local facility, however a comprehensive case to demonstrate that the proposal was acceptable was submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council. Planning permission was granted in May 2024.
